Boom Rope Replacement

Thanks to our major repair centre, we are able to handle boom rope inspections and replacements direct from our own facility in Pontefract, West Yorkshire. Our team of expert engineers specialise in complex access equipment repairs and our methods/machinery are designed to replace boom wire ropes quickly and safely, with minimal downtime for our customers.

As part of our boom rope replacement service, we are able to carry out the following:

• Disassembly of the boom as needed
• Removal of worn wire ropes/chains and associated components
• Inspection and cleaning of boom sections
• Re-installation of OEM approved replacement cables
• Re-assembly, lubrication, and functional tests
• Static and dynamic load testing if required

Manufacturer Recommendations For Boom Ropes and Chains

The following table highlights the different manufacturer recommendations for boom wire rope and/or chain inspections/replacements (information correct at time of publication).

In cases where machinery is subject to harsh conditions (i.e. overloading, electrical discharge through booms, contact with salt water or chemicals) then the inspection interval should be brought forward of the mandactory recommendations. This will often become apparent through regular servicing and/or the required LOLER Thorough Examination.
